Luther triptych

The pictures depict Luther in different stages of his life. Sola scriptura pictures Martin Luther (1483-1546) as a young student in a transitional period between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Sola gratia depicts Martin Luther's time as an outlaw on the run after he criticized the church's trade in indulgences. Sola fide presents Luther as old, faithful to his faith, with a heart burning with love for God and man. He points to the Bible, translated into the language of the people, the guiding word.
